Charters must be booked at least two weeks in advance. All reservations are subject to availability, so book as far in advance as possible to get the day(s) you prefer. Holidays are particularly busy times and fill-up. Check our Schedule to see what we have planned/booked to date. Call for any specific questions on current availability or to discuss a request for a special dive location(s). Generally, a charter requires four or more divers to go. The maximum number of divers and/or passengers the Dill Emma is certified to carry is six. Back to top
The captain will provide a liability waiver release to all divers prior to beginning a charter trip. It is the divers' responsibility to review the waiver, understand it, and sign it. All minors (under 18 years of age in Michigan) must also have a signed parental approval to dive. Only divers who agree to the terms of the liability waiver will be allowed to dive. Certification cards are required to be presented prior to diving. Back to top
A $100 deposit is required for each charter trip at the time of booking.

**If the charter can be filled by another party, your entire deposit will be refunded. Back to top
Great Lakes Dive Charters is in the business to enable diving on the Great Lakes. We do our utmost to be sure that all boat and dive support systems are functioning properly. We are totally committed to having every charter be a safe trip. Be aware that Mother Nature can change any planned events on the Great Lakes before or during a dive trip. Charters may be delayed, postponed or cancelled due to weather conditions that are unsafe for diving and/or boating. If this should happen, every effort will be made to reschedule the dive(s) of any group(s) that were planned for that charter on the most convenient date(s) possible. Where this is not possible, a 50% refund of the deposit(s) will be made. It is the sole discretion of the charter boat captain to make a determination when the weather or lake conditions are unsafe. Call to discuss any questions you have regarding the specifics of this policy. Back to top
Dive Charter Organizers - Dive Offer!
When a dive shop, travel agent/agency, business or individual organizes a full charter (i.e., five individuals), one representative may accompany the charter and dive for free. This offer may not be combined with our Dive Charter Referral Program.
Dive shops that organize a full charter or accompany divers that book reservations through the dive shop may display non-permanent advertising while the boat is underway. The captain reserves the right to make final decisions on any words or images that may be of a questionable nature or offensive to others. Back to top
Charter Passenger Behavior & Safety
In our experience, divers around the world are very sociable, healthy, and a fun-loving group. It is possible however, for some individuals to exhibit unsafe behavior towards themselves or others. The charter boat captain reserves the right to immediately postpone a dive and cancel the reservation of any individual who appears to be inexperienced, inadequately prepared, or having certification or dive logs. Individuals who do not present a current, valid dive certification and dive log prior to a charter will not be able to dive. Individuals who appear to be intoxicated, under the influence of any drugs that impair their ability to dive, or who become incapacitated during or between dives, will not be permitted to continue diving. Unruly individuals, or anyone who presents a danger to the boat, captain, divers or passengers will not be tolerated at any time, and may be removed from the boat at the nearest possible port.
